About Olga and blonde.travel

Life through travel.

If you’ve found your way to my site, travel probably matters to you too. Let me introduce myself. My name is Olga, and blonde.travel is my blog. I write about the journeys I’ve taken and share what I learned and how those places felt to me.

Many people would agree that traveling is wonderful. For me, it has become more than a pleasant way to spend time. It is a passion, a hobby, and, looking back, a large and meaningful part of my life.

I don’t travel to collect as many countries as possible. I believe a country only begins to reveal its atmosphere, mood, character, traditions, everyday life, and food after you’ve spent months getting to know it. Those things appear when the first excitement of novelty fades, when you settle into a place and begin to live there rather than simply visit. The pleasure is in making a home, finding places and traditions that become yours, and watching what was once foreign and unfamiliar become familiar.

I have one rule when I travel: I don’t read or learn anything about a place before I go. Otherwise, someone else’s picture settles in my mind, and I have to paint over it before I can make my own. Everyone sees the world differently. At most, I study the map, mark the places that catch my attention, and find a simple list of suggestions from people who have been there—literally 1, 2, 3, with no commentary. Then I arrive with a blank sheet of paper, see the place with my own eyes, and begin to draw.

I began writing for myself, but I’m happy whenever someone visits the site or leaves a comment. I hope every reader finds something useful, feels a little of the excitement I felt, or simply travels with me through these stories. Most of all, I hope they inspire you to make discoveries of your own.
