Apple AirTags

What
Small item trackers that connect your belongings to Apple’s Find My app. Nearby, you can make an AirTag play a sound; farther away, devices in the Find My network can help report its location. It is not a live GPS tracker, and updates depend on that network being within reach.
Turn on “Notify When Left Behind” in Find My for an alert when you leave an item behind.
Why
I am a big fan of Apple’s Find My network. Over the years I have accumulated probably dozens of AirTags, along with compatible things such as my Ember travel mug and wall chargers.
They are everywhere: in every piece of luggage, handbags and toiletry bags, on my umbrella, camera and Starlink Mini antenna—even on the baby’s car seat. If I take it travelling, there is a good chance I have found somewhere to put an AirTag.
For me, they answer two worries: leaving something behind, and losing it to theft. The first is what the separation alerts are for. The second is the reassurance that a missing possession might still leave a location to follow. Luckily, I have not had to test that hope after a theft. I am happy to keep investing in a little peace of mind.
Where
The linked four-pack contains second-generation AirTags. Setup requires an iPhone or iPad running iOS or iPadOS 26.2.1 or later.
Allow for holders and mounts as well; the right attachment depends on what you want to tag. Search Amazon for “airtag mount”. For my camera, I use the SmallRig MD5423 quick-release baseplate with an AirTag compartment. Holders and mounts are sold separately.
