Champagne Crown Sealer
- Every journey
What
A small stopper that reseals an opened bottle of champagne or sparkling wine. Fit it over the bottle’s mouth and press the lever down to keep the bubbles for the next glass.
Why
I love champagne and other bubbles: a mimosa at breakfast, a glass with sushi at lunch, an aperitif before dinner. There is rarely a bad time for a flute. A whole bottle is another matter.
In my line of work, hotels often leave a welcome bottle of sparkling wine in the room. A lovely gesture, but I have yet to find one that brings a stopper with it or keeps one among the room amenities. Leave the bottle open and much of the pleasure goes with the bubbles.
So we bring our own. Le Creuset is my current favourite; WMF is my second choice. We keep one in every large suitcase. It is easy to forget when packing, and remarkably hard to find once someone has handed you a bottle.
