Oceanic+ Dive Housing

What

A rigid iPhone housing for underwater photography and video, with physical controls and automatic colour correction through the Oceanic+ app. With a paid plan, it can also serve as a recreational dive computer.

Why

My husband once tried to demonstrate an iPhone’s water resistance in seawater. The phone did not survive the demonstration.

I’ve tried plastic pouches and elaborate snorkelling cases costing more than $200. None won me over: poor photographs, awkward controls, or water getting in where it absolutely should not.

Oceanic had rather better credentials. This was a scuba-equipment brand behind the Oceanic+ app for Apple Watch Ultra, developed with Apple. Its housing finally gave me an underwater setup I love at snorkelling depths. My husband, an Advanced Open Water diver, has taken it deeper and prefers it to his previous underwater setups.
